Anders Thomsen is the biggest surprise of SEC 2016. Dane got into the line up of the biggest European names thanks to some luck. While standing under the tape of the last heat of SEC Challenge in Olching, he needed 3 points. The thing was, he had 3 riders fighting for this pass too - Artem Laguta, Fredrik Lindgren and Przemysław Pawlicki. Luckily for Thomsen, first two got excluded and Dane managed to defeat Pawlicki and with 8 points gathered, ended as 7th and got through to the SEC Finals.
Peter Ljung had been enjoying his promotion to the Speedway Euro Championship and announced fighting for a decent result in each round. However, he didn't follow this plan. This season was completely unsuccessful for the rider from Sweden.
In every round of the Speedway Euro Championship, there's a rider starting with so called 'wild card', letting him to race in a single round. This year's choices were really accurate, because two of four riders ended at the podium or were really close to it.
In the final round of Speedway Euro Championship, a local rider of ROW Rybnik - Kacper Woryna, started with the wild card. Junior from Rybnik did pretty good job gathering 6 points.
Vaclav Milik reached for the silver medal of Individual European Championship after the additional heat. The moment meeting ended, the best Czech rider could not hide his joy.
It was a fascinating and exciting meeting. Additional heats had to be taken to solve the medal positions and clarify the TOP 5. Surprisingly, but fully deserved, title was reached by Dane, Nicki Pedersen. Meeting started with an one-hour delay, because of the weather issues. In Rybnik, it was raining constantly from 1PM and therefore, Jury had to wait with the decision till the very last moments
