Dream debut. That’s how we can describe Mikkel Michelsen season in TAURON Speedway Euro Championship. Dane came to the tp of the GC as fast as he can and lost bronze by only one point. He beat riders as Antonio Lindbaeck, Emil Sajfutdinow or Peter Kildemand.
Young Dane was pretty effective and brave. He made really good scores in every round of cycle. The worst competition he had in Daugavpils, where he scored only eight points. The best tournament he made in Chorzów, where he scored 12 points.
It seems, that 4th place in general classification was a very good result, but when you lost bronze by only one point, it’s always disappointing. Dane was very emotional after last round in Chorzów.
– I lost by one point. At the beginning I was very angry. It was very close and far away at the same time, but it’s speedway.
- I didn’t win any medal, but I think that I showed some good speedway and I deserved that position. Firstly I was disappointed, but after some time I realised that I’m fourth in Europe and that’s pretty good result – said Michelsen.
In his words he can find assurance, that he’ll be back there more motivated to improve his results. How Michelsen’s season looks in stats? Young Dane won seven races, five times was second, nine times third and only one time he finished race fourth. Finally he scored 40 points in 22 races, what means 1,818 point per race, but we can expect that in 2019 he will be better.
