Qualifiactions to this year's Speedway Euro Championship are right around the corner. At the end of April, riders will start their rivalry at several tracks in Europe, having a clear goal ahead - to go through to SEC Challenge, which is planned on May 25th in Nagyhalasz (Hungary). Fans' eyes will surely be turned to Rivne, where... Argentinan with a Spanish license - Facundo Albin will have his start.
Some fans may know the Argentinian rider from his performances in second-league Polish team - Stainer Kolejarz Rawicz. For those, who haven't had a chance to meet him, we prepared a short brief, presenting Facundo Albin.
- My name is Facundo Leonel Albin, I'm Argentinian and I'm 26 years old. I started my adventure with speedway at the age of 8. I was racing in different categories in Argentina, becoming a champion in each one of them. I have a double citizenship and from 2015, I have a Spanish license. I'm really happy to represent this country in qualifications to Euro Championship in Rivne. What's important, it won't my debut at this track, because I've already had my opportunity to compete there in the individual competition and I really liked this track - Albin says.
Fight for SEC Challenge is a huge challenge for Albin, because in Rivne, he is going to face some names, who compete with world's top on a daily basis, having much better financial possibilities. However, as he assures, he's taking all his powers to go through.
- SEC is a new experience and a huge responsibility, it's a really important event in my sports career. I'm aware of competing with some top riders, but still I'm looking forward to it. I always put all my heart, because speedway is not only a sport or a hobby for me - it's a part of my life, something I really love - Albin adds.
Starting in international meetings is related with a proper equipment setup and a logistic challenge. Albin counts on fans, without whom, he can't imagine speedway and his further career.
- For this moment, my bikes are ready to start, although I have to admit, it's tough. I don't have any sponsors except for my family in Argentina, but even though, I will do my best to run for a good result. I hope I can count on fans, who are the biggest value for me. Without them, this sport would have no sense. Speedway is not only the riders, but the fans too - we all create a big speedway family - Facundo Albin ends.
