Leon Madsen finished second in the TAURON Speedway Euro Championship in Güstrow on Saturday. Defender of the title scored 11 points.
Like last year, Leon Madsen took second place during the SEC struggle in Güstrow. What's more, also this time he started in the final from the third grid, which was the least favorable choice. Dane admits that Saturday's competition was not easy for him because he had problems with fitting the equipment to an extremely specific track in Güstrow.
- I started well from the gate 3, a year ago I also started in the final race and I was also the second, so it's probably my destiny during the competition in Gustrow. I am very happy with the result I achieved in this tournament because it did not start very well for me. We had a problem with the right motorcycle setting. This track is not my favorite, but I was in the final. I am extremely happy because it was a difficult competition. We were struggling with motorcycles and the track, so ending the struggle in second place is a great result - said Madsen.
Dane is a defender of the pre-season title. As he emphasizes, after the first round of last year's struggle he was in a much worse position, which is why the issue of the championship title is still open.
- There are three rounds remaining until the end, in which there are many points to win. A year ago I did not start the struggle too well, but I managed to get the title. After today's competition, the case is still open. I have only four starting points for the leader, so I will fight for the defense of the championship title - Leon Madsen concluded.
