Mikkel Michelsen won the third round of the TAURON Speedway Euro Championship 2019, which took place in Vojens. Due to high point score, Dane was promoted to third place in the intermediate classification of the cycle.
The first two rounds of this year's struggle were not successful for a rider from Nykobing. In Vojens, however, it was completely different. Already in the first series of starts, Michelsen made the best impression among all competitors who won their races. Throughout the tournament, Dane was very well suited to the track there and did not make mistakes. Michelsen was promoted to the final immediately after the main round. In the last race of the day he fought an exciting fight for victory with Kacper Woryna, from which he came out unscathed. For the Dane, the competition in Vojens was special, because his family sat in the stands, who had the opportunity to watch his first victory in the history of the cycle of the Individual European Championships.
- It was good to come back to Vojens. I last started here in 2013 or 2014. This place is full of memories and the tradition of Danish speedway. I am very pleased with my performance. The first two rounds did not go my way. I knew that if I wanted to attack I had to do it in Vojens, otherwise the last round would not matter to me. I am very pleased with the work of my team, which made my motorbikes perform great. I am glad that my family and sponsors watched the competition while in the stands. This means a lot to me. It's great - said Mikkel Michelsen after the competition.
Despite the victory in front of his own audience, the Dane could not celebrate his success for too long, because he was going on a long trip to Lublin, for a match in the Polish PGE Ekstraliga. Michelsen hopes to start the celebration after winning the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów.
- Today I have no time to celebrate, tomorrow I will probably have the most important match of Motor Lublin this season. I hope to celebrate in Chorzów, where I'm also going to win - ended Mikkel Michelsen.
