Leon Madsen got the bronze medal in TAURON Speedway Euro Championship 2019. In Chorzów, Dane defeated Kacper Woryna in an extra heat and reached for the third position overall.
After two rounds of this year's cycle, it had all seemed like Madsen is on his way to defend the title. However, an injury forced him to withdraw from the third round of the series in Vojens, which made Madsen have six heats less than his main rivals to the title.
In Chorzów, Madsen was doing really well, having only setback in the fourth series of the starts. Thanks to his good score and second position in the final heat, he equaled Kacper Woryna's points, which meant we were about to watch an extra heat for bronze medal. It began with a better start by Pole, but issues with his bike were tightly used by Madsen and ultimately it was Dane who finished as third overall.
- It was a really tough meeting, so I'm really happy with this bronze medal. It means a lot to me. After I missed out the round in Vojens, I only raced in three rounds, still win the bronze, so you can call it a success. It was tough today, I had four races in a row at the end, so it wasn't easy. I had to give my best to reach for this bronze. It was a fantastic evening - Madsen ended.
