Over 70 heats. For so long, Grigorii Laguta had been the leader of TAURON SEC 2019. Russian lost the gold medal in the very last, additional heat, where he had to accept Mikkel Michelsen's superiority.

Laguta started his chase for the title in Euro Championship from a win in Guestrow, where he piled 15 points. In Toruń, it was equally well - 12 points and second position made him hold the leader's chair, with a one-point advantage over Leon Madsen. In Vojens, it had all looked like it's a done deal. Madsen's absence opened a clear path for Russian to exceed his advantage over the rivals. However, seven points gathered and a spectacular performance by Mikkel Michelsen let Laguta go to Chorzów as a leader, but nothing had been sealed yet.

Meeting at the Silesian Stadium started for Russian with a zero, but the next heats were completely different. Clear wins were about to lead Laguta straight to the final. Despite 11 points, which he piled in the main series, Laguta didn't go through to the final heat and was forced to compete in the race-off. There, it was Leon Madsen and Kacper Woryna who got in front of him and this meant that Mikkel Michelsen, in case of a win, will cause a additional heat for gold. That's exactly what happened. In heat no.24, Laguta got better from under the tape, but made a mistake on the distance. Russian got himself into a hole at the end of the second corner, which was used by Dane.

- I am not unsatisfied, I am angry. I have been missing some luck in the individual meetings. Always something. After Vojens, we drew many conclusions and along with my team, we're satisfied with tonight's performance. Boys did a good job. My family is surely happy with this medal - Laguta ended.
