Big final at the Silesian Stadium

Share on:

Big events need big venues. By following this sentence, the Silesian Stadium is going to host the TAURON Speedway Euro Championship series, for the third time in a row. On September 19th, 2020 in Chorzów, top European riders are going to fight for gold, title of the Individual European Champion and a spot in the next year's world championship!

Cradle of Polish sport - Silesian Stadium, for the third time, is going to become the capital of the European speedway thanks to hosting a final round of TAURON Speedway Euro Championship. After last year's emotions - additional heats or engine failures in decisive moments of fighting for medals, now, we can all expect even more. It is so because of the line up and changes in cycle's rules.

We already know the names of five riders, who secured their spots in upcoming TAURON SEC 2020. It is Mikkel Michelsen who will do his best to defend the title of the Euro Champion. Thanks to a spectacular chase in the last phase of the series, Danish rider had got himself into the additional heat, where he defeated Grigorii Laguta.

- I have to admit I just can't wait for starting this year's TAURON SEC. I also wait for all these emotions around the final round in Chorzów. It's incredible how much energy is gathered around this event. My goal is naturally to defend the title, so this final round will surely be an extremely interesting one - Euro Champion 2019 said.

Next big name on this line up is Leon Madsen - European Champion 2018 reached for bronze in 2019, but one has to admit, he rode only in three rounds.

Local fans will surely support Polish riders. Kacper Woryna is naturally, their favourite one. Woryna was close to the bronze medal last year, but an engine failure got him right next to the podium.

Bartosz Smektała is the second Pole on the list - Individual World Champion 2018 coming as sophomore among seniors, makes it clear - his goal is to become the Individual European Champion 2020.

TAURON SEC 2020 will undoubtedly be very interesting not only because of the host venues, but also thanks to a new rule - winner gets a pass to Speedway Grand Prix 2021.

- This new rule has been implemented ahead of this year's season and it changes a lot. A chance to get promotion to Grand Prix series makes every rider willing to fight till the very last meters, I can only regret that this regulation hadn't gone through in the last year - Michelsen said.

Final of the qualification rounds - SEC Challenge is planned on June 6th in Krsko (Slovenia).

Tickets for the Great Final of TAURON Speedway Euro Championship 2020, on September 19th, 2020 at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów will be available from February 10th via Regular sales starts two days later via
