After the round in Güstrow, Mikkel Michelsen is the leader of the interim classification of the Individual European Championship. At the halfway point of the series, the Dane has a nine-point lead over defending champion Leon Madsen. As he stresses himself, consistency is the key to success in TAURON SEC.
In Częstochowa, as well as in Güstrow, Michelsen ended the competition taking the second place. During the inaugural round, he had to cross the finish line behind Leon Madsen, while in Germany Janusz Kołodziej was the fastest one on that evening. The Pole grabbed the victory in Güstrow losing only one point in the entire competition.
- Especially in the last three races Janusz was very fast, and I knew I had to line up next to him at the start line in the final to kind of stop him in the first corner. We both had a good start and also Andzejs started great from gate one, so it was tight to the first corner. I tried to push Janusz, but he just had a little bit more speed - Dane explained.
After two rounds it is Michelsen who is the current leader of the interim classification of the series, despite the fact, that he did not win any of them. According to the two-time TAURON SEC gold medalist, in the competition for the title of the best speedway rider of the Old Continent, the key to victory is to collect points consistently.
- At the end of the day, it's all about the points. It's all about being consistent. I know the recipe for success in the SEC series and I know, what is more important - Michelsen concluded.
