Riders, who received a wild card for the tournament European Championship protest by sending a letter to the FIM - Europe in the period of Ineligibility at the same time with the SEC and the Grand Prix. The following content speedway official letter:
" We, as the riders who already got the invitation to start in Speedway European Champioships 2014, declare, that we will insist on allowing us to take part. In this competition nevertheless we are also the FIM Speedway Grand Prix regular riders.
We find banning anyone to compete in the continental championship as a very bad decision, which decrease the popularity of our sport and waste the opportunity that has arisen to promote it, mostly thanks TV live broadcast to 71 countries. Such decision is considered by us as the limiting of our freedom.
According to the European Union law, freedom of work is one of the fundamental rights and we will not accept the situation when we are getting limited in such artifical and unfair way. As the experienced speedway riders, who brought a lot of work to build the image of World Speedway, we expect more respect and comity from management of World and European Speedway.
We are waiting for the fair solution of this situation and immediate reply from FIM - Europe Management Council."
