Radoslaw Zielinski : Maciek , at the end of the season you won the gold medal in the colors of Poole Pirates . What kind of year was it for you?
Maciej Janowski :
Taking into account the results that I had this year , I can safely say that it was a very positive year .

RZ : Despite a good effort in the SEC you took fifth place and managed to also jump on the podium and keep you in the top . What do you think were the reasons behind that?
MJ :
Not all meetings went the way I hoped and that’s was why I finished where I did. Of course I wanted to show what I am capable of, but it wasn’t bad overall.


RZ : It was your first year as a senior rider. What is the difference between senior and junior?
MJ
: It depends on the approach to the rider. One is easier, the other more difficult. Generally, the difference in the number of tournaments, because chess players always have more, but I think you get used to it and achieve good results.

RZ : The start of season we didn’t see your best performance. In time, however, you made considerable progress. What was the reason?
MJ :
My team and I made a few changes to the equipment, some components, we started getting improvements with motors , set ups. Consequently, the second part of the season was better for me .

RZ : How would you rate the new look SEC tournament?
M.J :
complete amateur! (laughs). But seriously, the entire formula was very positive. The Championship regained its former glory, everything was professionally organized. I am convinced that the SEC is a very good way to promote the shale sport.

RZ : What meetings do you think were the most interesting?
MJ
: For me, the most interesting was in Gdansk , although the national meeting of Golden Helmet I liked it (laughs) .

RZ : Was it a big surprise to you that Martin Vaculik won the title by?
MJ
: Sure it was little surprising, but Martin rode brilliantly in Rzeszow and deservedly won the title . There were also a lot of injuries, so for sure he wasn’t the favourite, but he won and should be applauded. He is still a very good rider.

R.Z : What is the European Champion like in private? You ride in the same team in Poland. What can you say about him?
M.J
: He is a good guy, very sympathetic and easy going.

RZ : Can we expect that you will line up next year to qualify for the SEC in 2014 ?
MJ :
To be honest, I will put pressure on the SEC bosses to get a wild card ( laughter ), but if that fails, I will definitely start in the qualifying rounds for next year's European Championship.

RZ : If you could choose the location where you would mostly "like to send" the SEC ?
MJ :
I don’t know, but Gniezno is a very nice town (laughs) .

R.Z : What are your plans for next year's club? (Mainly I ask about Poland and Sweden)
MJ
: At the moment I go on vacation and don’t think about next season’s contracts. I need a well deserved rest.

RZ : What do you think, given an injury free run, who would have the best chance to win the SEC?
MJ
: Absolutely Tai Woffinden, he had an amazing season, everything came together, and had he not injured himself, he would have taken the SEC title in the last round.

RZ : And finally, would you like to say something to all the speedway fans?
M.J
: Greetings to all fans. I thank them for all their support in 2013 and I hope they will be with me next season.

TAURON SEC quallies starting lists

Qualifying rounds of the TAURON SEC 2024 will take places in Debrecen, Mureck, Stralsund, and Krsko.  From each  round, the top four riders will advance. An exception is the round in Stralsund, where if any of the Latvian riders will promote, the top three will advance to the SEC Challenge final in Daugavpils.

Another week full of racing for the permanent participants of TAURON SEC 2024. The third round of the PGE Ekstraliga took place on Polish tracks, and on Saturday, the FIM Speedway Grand Prix series was inaugurated with a round in Croatia.

Lyager Wins Danish Qualification for TAURON SEC

On Tuesday evening, the final round of the Danish qualifiers for the TAURON Speedway Euro Championship 2024 and the FIM Speedway Grand Prix 2025 took place at the Vojens Speedway Center. The top five contenders secured passes to participate in the upcoming tournaments.
