Fitness, skiing, motocross! Preparations to the the new season, gets underway! However Martin Vaculik cannot pass through by the TV. No wonder! During the Olympics games he and the whole Slovakians are holding thumbs for their hockey team.
However, there is not too many reasons to be satisfied at the moment.
"Of course I was interested in hockey, because it is in our national sport. Well, first match at the Olympics tournament wasn't good for us. I say more, this a massacre, we lost so high in the USA and also Slovenia. But sport is sometimes so cruel. Nevertheless, we must continue to support our players "- told us Martin Vaculik.
Finally, the Slovaks finished group struggles last place in the table. But the rules of the Olympics tournament is designed so that it can still be counted in the fight for the medals. Some positive of the team coach Vladimir Vujtek was a match with Russia. We lost also, but after a struggled battle.
"It seemed that after these failures with the United and Slovenia, in the next match against Russia we do not have any chance, because they are extremely determined and play at home and in the meantime turned out to be something else. That's good!" - enjoys Vaculik.
After the announcement of the hockey team for the Olympics , it turned out that it lacks Miroslav Satan. This issue has divided the Slovaks - some admitted the coach right Vujtek, others have disagreed him.
"I do not know why coach so made. Maybe it was an internal conflict between him and Zdeno Chara. Sometimes, that the team was a good atmosphere and you have to sacrifice someone fell on Satan. In addition, the coach decided to put on a few young players " - explains Vaculik .
After winning last year the Individual European Champion title - Vaculik has become more recognizable athlete in his country. Slovaks have realized that their athletes are successful not only in hockey or tennis , but also in speedway. 23 years old Unia Tarnow rider already cannot wait for the new season and new challenges.
"Preparations are in full progress, although recently I have sprained ankle when I was driving on the track and some days I have to take a break from training. But really, it's like the season was to start tomorrow. I'm ready for this. I can get on a motorcycle and fight for victory" - he argues.
Slovakians will not paticipate during the tournament Speedway Best Pairs Championship this season, but Vaculik is on roster in rounds Speedway European Championships. Defence of the Individual European Championship is one of his main goals for the season 2014.
