The fans present at Moldow Arena counted that Nicki Pedersen would provide himself such advantage over his opponents which would make it possible for him to celebrate gold medal of European championship before the last round in Częstochowa. Unfortunately the weather destroyed all plans because it changed the surface totally.
Just before the tournament it started to rain heavily and at some moment there was concerns if it would be possible to ride the tournament on the original date. Fortunately the organizers coped with the situation and after some time the track was safe and it was possible to fight on it. Nicki Pedersen rode very poor from the very beginning of the event which surprised home fans. After three rounds of heats “Power” had only one point and it was almost sure that Dane didn’t manage to qualify even to the last chance heat.
Emil Sajfutdinow, who went through the final after the last chance heat, used worse day of his opponent. There he didn’t give any chance to Peter Kildemand and Martin Vaculik and for the first time he stood at the highest step of a podium. What is more, he had bigger advantage in the general classification and Dane was also overtaken by his countryman, Peter Kildemand.
Sajfutdinow knew that it was his time and really great chance for winning this which he didn’t manage to win the year before, gold medal of European championship. However there was one more tournament ahead of the riders – the great final in Częstochowa.
