After three tournaments Emil Sajfutdinow had three points of advantage over Peter Kildemand and six over Nicki Pedersen and current European Champion, Martin Vaculik. The track in Częstochowa is said to be one of the best to race in the world and as a result everyone knew that fans would be witnesses of fight for every point on the whole length and width.
Apart from Vaculik, all three riders from the top three rode in Częstochowa as a home rider. Nicki Pedersen had been a representative of local Włókniarz for two seasons. It is also worth to add that he is current record – holder of the track in Częstochowa. Emil Sajfutdinow had raced in Częstochowa last year and in 2014 the hero of local fans was Peter Kildemand.
Emil Sajfutdinow became new European Champion! Russian didn’t win the final event but he won all his heats in regular phase and as a result he was sure of the gold medal of Speedway European Championships.
For the whole tournament the rider from Russian was really concentrated. He was winning his heats but Peter Kildemand was doing the same. Finally Kildemand lost points in one of the heats because of Grigorij Laguta, who was supporting his countryman for the whole event. Then there was heat number 18 in which main candidates to the title took part. The best start had Emil Sajfutdinow but Peter Kildemand, who was chasing him, was riding faster and faster. However at some moment Dane exaggerated and hooked the fence.
Kildemand stood up really quickly but the referee had to stop the race. Everything was clear! Emil Sajfutdinow ensured the European Champion title and that meant he dethroned Martin Vaculik. Peter Kildemand came back to the park machine furious and Sajfutdinow was celebrating winning the first gold medal of SEC with his team on the track.
Unfortunately Emil didn’t manage to win the tournament in Częstochowa. Although he scored fifteen points in regular phase, the rider had quite dangerous crash in the final and he was excluded from the re – run. Fortunately Russian was all right apart from strong rubbing of the forearm and a dozen bruises. The happiness with gold was so big that it hid the pain, which was present after the final. Peter Kildemand and Nicki Pedersen took two other places on the podium.
Apart from mentioned riders, Martin Vaculik and Janusz Kołodziej are also sure of riding in next year Speedway European Championships series.
