Maksim Bogdanovs was a super reserved last year. During Speedway Best Pairs Cup series he was successfully replacing Kjastas Puodzuks and in Speedway European Championships he was fighting for a medal and staying in the series until the very end. As he says, in 2015 Latvia will ride much better than last season.
In season 2014 you took sixth place in SEC. Are you satisfied with that score?
- Well, mainly I’m happy because of the fact that I took part in Speedway European Championships. On the other hand, it’s a pity that I was sixth because I was very close to the top five. It would be good if I could still take part in the series. I will definitely take part in SEC 2015 qualifications.
How could you summarize start of your national team in Speedway Best Pairs Cup?
- Well last year it was very bad. The event was quite nervous for us and our score wasn’t good. Surely we weren’t satisfied with it.
I guess you are looking forward to this year’s edition SBPC…
- Yes, of course. Although it should be remembered that it will definitely be very difficult tournament for us. It is the first event this season and we have to fight with so great riders. We will try to ride as good as possible. It will be definitely better for us than it was last year (laugh).
Do you like the idea of SBPC series?
- Of course! SBPC events are really great. Perfect organization and great atmosphere are main features of this series.
Latvia will ride in Toruń during the first round of SBPC with the wild card. What can you say about your chances in this tournament?
- I don’t want to promise too much. I can only say that I’ll do my best to present myself in the event really well.
Do you feel well at MotoArena?
- Honestly, not really. I was riding there for the first time last year and it was quite tough. It is difficult track as far as technical skills are concerned.
So, as you mentioned, this year you also would like to start in European Championship…
- Yes, definitely. I will ride in qualifications and then we will see.
You’ve decided to stay in Lokomitiv for another season. Didn’t you want to come back to extraleague?
- I wanted very much but on the other hand I still have time for this. I would like to have one more good season in 1st league to gain necessary self – confidence. There will definitely be time for extraleague.
What can you say about the chances of your team in 1st league?
- We have quite good team. I’m curious about the disposition of Swedish riders. Last year each of us had some problems but I believe that this season everything will be okay. In my opinion, we are able to be in play – offs.
