Last Sunday PGE Ekstraliga started. One week earlier the first round had been cancelled and that’s why the second round was the inauguration. There were a few surprises. The biggest one is probably a draw between KS Toruń and Betard Sparta Wrocław.
There were two dangerous looking crashes in Toruń. First Paweł Przedpełski was taken to a hospital. Concussion and break of left thumb was diagnosed. Next in the fifteenth heat the frame broke in Tai Woffinden’s bike when he was riding on the second place. Because of that the bike was divided into two parts. What is worse, the front of the bike flew in the stands and only reflex of fans caused that there was no tragedy. Riders from Toruń successfully fought for a draw in two last heats of the match. It is worth to mention that KS Toruń wasn’t on the lead even once during the whole match.

SPAR Falubaz won on their home track with PGE Stal Rzeszów. Hosts won 50 – 40 and the best rider of the team from Zielona Góra was Jarosław Hampel. There were emotions and racing on the highest level in Zielona Góra thanks to Peter Kildemand. He was one of the most effective riders of visitors. Thanks to Peter and Grzegorz Walasek fans were able to watch exciting heats. The visiting team missed points of other seniors. To fans’ surprise Greg Hancock another time didn’t have a good day.

On Sunday Fogo Unia Leszno won with GKM Grudziądz 54:36 at the stadium named Alfred Smoczyk in the second round of PGE Ekstraliga. The hosts were led to the win by Nicki Pedersen who scored fourteen points. The match was one side show. The riders from Leszno was on the lead from the first heat and later, although the riders of Robert Kempiński was trying really hard, they systematically increased their advantage.
