The best Polish speedway rider in the history, Tomasz Gollob has received permanent wild card in Speedway European Championships series 2015. The rider has joined to Emil Sajfutdinow, Peter Kildemand, Nicki Pedersen, Martin Vaculik and Janusz Kołodziej who assured their start in the coming edition of SEC thanks to good places which they took last season.
Tomasz Gollob has been starting in the new formula of Individual European Championships since the very beginning. In 2013 he wasn’t able to fight for medals because of bad injury which had an influence on the rider also last year. The ninth place wasn’t definitely satisfying for the legend of Polish speedway.
Since the beginning of the new season Gollob has been presenting himself really well and current form of Polish World Champion convinces that he is definitely able to fight for European Champion title especially that the beginning of the series on June 20th takes place on one of his favourite tracks – at MotoArena in Toruń.
“Speedway European Championships is a great project, led by Poles and it is developing systematically. Thanks to transmission on Eurosport people in the whole world can see astonishing races so the essence of speedway. So far all tournaments have been organized very well and what is more important riders who were starting in SEC felt comfortable and they enjoyed their riding. That was also in my case so with no hesitation I’ve decided to start in this year’s series” – says Tomasz Gollob.
“The only title which lacks in my collection is Individual European Championship. I am very determined and I’ll do my best to be in the fight for victory. We will start on June 20th in Toruń, then I will be fighting for points in Landshut, Kumla and Ostrów Wielkopolski. Extraleague and SEC are essential for me this season” – admits World Champion 2010.
“This choice was something natural for us. Tomasz is real speedway legend, he causes incredible emotions. Since the beginning of this season he has been presenting good form so we haven’t had any doubts that it was he who should have received this wild card. We are convinced that Gollob will be one of the favourites of this year’s series which are going to be very interesting” – assure the organizers of SEC. “Tomasz has been supporting our initiative since the very beginning.
