After really poor round for Nicki Pedersen in Holsted, Emil Sajfutdinow and Peter Kildemand felt their chance to win European Champion title. The difference between the riders before final event in Częstochowa were only three points. “Power” was also going to fight for gold but six point loss seemed not to reduce.

The last round took place in Częstochowa on the 19th September. The track in Czestochowa is said to be one of the best for racing in the world and that meant everybody knew that fans would be witnesses of fight for every point on the whole track.

Apart from Martin Vaculik every rider from the top three started on the track in Częstochowa as a host. Nicki Pedersen was a representative of Włókniarz for two seasons. It is also worth to add that is also record holder of the track. Emil Sajfutdinow started in Częstochowa in 2013 and in 2014 local hero was Peter Kildemand.

“Emil Sajfutdinow became new European Champion! Although Russian didn’t win the final event, he ensured gold medal of Speedway European Championships after winning all the heats in the regular phase” it could be read in newspapers’ headlines.

The rider from Russia was very concentrated for the whole tournament. He was winning his heats but Peter Kildemand was answering the same way. Finally Kildemand lost points because of Grigorij Laguta, who was supporting his countryman for the whole event, in one of the heats. The main competitors for the title met in the heat number 18. Emil Sajfutdinow had the best start but just behind him Peter Kildemand was riding faster and faster. However at one moment Dane exaggerated and he hooked with his back wheel at air fence.

Kildemand stood up very quickly but the referee had to stop the heat. Everything was clear! Emil Sajfutdinow ensured the title and dethroned Martin Vaculik. Furious Peter Kildemand came back to the park machine and Sajfutdinow together with his team was celebrating first gold medal of SEC in his career.

Unfortunately Emil didn’t manage to win the event in Częstochowa. Although he scored fifteen points in the regular phase, he had a dangerous crash in the final and was excluded from the re – run. Fortunately Russian was ok apart from chafe of forearm and a few bruises. However happiness from gold was incredible and definitely hid the pain which appeared after the final. Other places on the podium were taken by Peter Kildemand and Nicki Pedersen.

And already on June 20th at MotoArena in Toruń the inaugural round of Speedway European Championships takes place. So far we know the names of six riders who will start in Toruń at the end of June. Apart from the five who ensured straight qualification from last year series, so Emil Sajfutdinow, Peter Kildemand, Nicki Pedersen, Martin Vaculik and Janusz Kołodziej, Tomasz Gollob, the legend of Polish speedway will be also permanent participant of SEC.

- Start in SEC is very important for me and I’ll do my best to win this wanted title. I would like every heat to be exciting, to make all fans who will come at a stadium happy. Surely I have bigger chances than in previous years. I think here especially about changes concerning silencers which enable us to ride in contact. I am definitely in better situation before the coming series – said World Champion 2010.
