Artem Laguta won the SEC Challenge, which was held in Torun at MotoArena. Russian was unbeaten and finished the tournament with a maximum of fifteen points. After leaving the podium he did not hide that on Friday his equipment was doing very well.
Artem victory with a maximum of points. Was it really so easy?
- No, of course not. It's never easy. The fact that I won fifteen points does not prove that I had some small problems. There were a lot of good riders and we had to try really hard to win particular heats. Fortunately, my equipment was very well fit today, which helped me to qualify for SEC.
You have mentioned the perfect set to the track. What is your opinion, was it very slick?
- Honestly, I’ve really liked track. I liked the first three rounds, when the surface was more grippy so you were able to fight across the entire width. Then it became slick and fight on a distance was a little less. But I went out well from the start, which allowed me to beat rivals.
In less than two weeks it is at this stadium there is the inauguration of SEC series. Was it a good training before the tournament?
- As organizers prepare the same surface on the first round of SEC, I'll be really happy. It's always good to race and discover new lines on a particular track. In two weeks all the best speedway riders in Europe will be here, so it will be certainly harder than today, but I will fight for as good result as possible.
On Friday you were very fast but also quite relaxed. Were you sure since the beginning that you qualify to SEC series?
- In sport you can never be sure of anything at one hundred percent. But you cannot hide the fact that this competition could have been a lot more difficult. If there were with Piotr Pawlicki and Leon Madsen, we would have to point them as one of the favorites, and then there would be much tighter in the lead. It is a pity that they had these falls and weren’t able to start here.
With what number are you going to start in SEC series?
- My lucky number is 222. It will accompany me during this competition.
Thank you for the interview.
- Thank you very much.
