Nicki Pedersen won in Torun although Emil Sayfutdinov was faultless during the whole event. In Landshut Russian took the victory from Dane although he was really good since the beginning. After the two rounds Sayfutdinov is slightly better but two points of advantage over Nicki Pedersen is nothing and both of them know this.
“It is true that I’m losing two points to Emil at this moment but let’s remember that there are still two round to the end. I think that this is good starting point before Kumla and Ostrow. To be honest two points can be undone in one heat so the next medal of Individual European Championships is really realistic.” – said Nicki Pedersen after the event in Bavaria.
Emil Sayfutdinov, on the other hand, is current European Champion, who wants to defend the title similarly as it was years ago when he won the gold medal of Individual World Championships two years in a row. Although he had two good starts, Russian knows that if he wants to win the most precious medal, he has to score a lot of points on the August 15th in Kumla.
“There are still two rounds to the end of championships so there is no sense to give medals. We know what was the situation year and two years ago. The champion will be the one who will have most points after the event in Ostrow.” – says Emil Sayfutdinov diplomatically.
