Emil Sayfutdinov in Swedish Kumla in each of the six heats reached the finish line in first position. He did this as the second rider in the history of Speedway European Championships series.
In 2013, during the final tournament in Rzeszow Martin Vaculik made a similar feat, who also scored 18 points. What's more, a great performance guaranteed him the title of European Champion. Although no one was pointing at him, Slovak proved that he can attack from any position and ultimately ripped the gold medal from Nicki Pedersen.
Two years later, Emil Sayfutdinov can boast a similar performance. He made his all paths to defend his title. If he rides to his normal level on the 19th of September in Ostrow Wielkopolski, he will go down in history as the first champion who defend his title in Speedway European Championships series.
As he says he has to keep calm and do not intend to fall into an unnecessary euphoria. Nine points of advantage over the second Nicki Pedersen makes that he will go to Ostrow without much pressure. Especially that his rivals are also aware of the fact that the case of the title was probably settled in Kumla.
The end of the season is for Russian almost perfect. In every competition, in which he starts he achieves excellent results, so the average on every track is very high. Now he sets another goal - to defend the title. It's really very close and it seems that only disaster can take him almost certain gold medal.
