Another season of Speedway European Championships is behind us. It all started on June 20 at Motoarena in Toruń, though in fact it was over a dozen days earlier, when the SEC Challenge was held (moved from Lendava).
Seven passes for the Finals were about be taken. Piotr Pawlicki and Leon Madsen did not appear in Toruń, due to their injuries only few days before the meeting. It was Artem Laguta, who shined most brightly in Torun and did not feel the taste of loss, so a strong hope to ride like that 2 weeks later appeared in his mind.
Except Artem, three Poles advanced: Tomasz Jędrzejak, Piotr Protasiewicz and Przemysław Pawlicki, Dane Hans Andersen, Czech Vaclav Milik & Russian Grigori Laguta. In the additional heat solving the 2nd place Hans Andersen defeated Tomasz Jędrzejak. After the meeting, SEC organizers made official announcement concerning the wild cards, which were given to Martin Smolinski and Antonio Lindbaeck. German and Swede joined Tomasz Gollob, who was given the wild card a bit earlier. Because of the fact that the qualifications' final was held at the same track as upcoming first SEC Round, many riders saw it as a nice warm-up.
One could find some nice paths, catch the right angles and set the mind positively right before the big start. There were already waiting all the best European riders, who had some serious plans about the championship race...
