One year ago, You were fifth in SEC and now, reached fourth place ex aequo with Martin Vaculik. Can we call it a progress?
- I think so. Position is better, last round was very good for me and that's positive, however the whole cycle did not go in a best possible way. Line up was very strong and the tracks were hard to decipher. It's the disposition in the whole series that matters and it's great that along with Martin Vaculik we reached the fourth place that gives a bonus of promoting to the next year's finals. I'm really glad that I'm still here and hopefully this progress will be visible. It can be possible only when I will be starting well from the very beginning. Then, I can think of getting the medal position. Surely, there's a small dream of getting there.
This year's series was kind of patchy for you. Started from 4 points in Toruń and ended with a podium in Ostrów and securing the spot for the next year.
Line up was really strong for the whole time, so it doesn't have any bigger matter. If you're not in an optimal form, it's really hard to catch up later on. I think that my disposition in SEC was a reflection of the one I had in the season.
In the beginning, because of the injuries and other problems, I couldn't be that effective, so it started in the wrong way in Toruń. It's the last heats, last rounds are the most important though. It's always better when you're catching up than losing your position. I'm glad that it all ended with a good perfrormance in Ostrów, some good heats and nice racing. It was also kind of reflection of my form in the last part of the season. This form was going up and in fact, I was kind of sad that the season ended.
It's always great to end in the proper moment, a good mood and a good disposition, to get ready for the next season with high hopes and that's what I'm about to do.
SEC is quite short, because it consists only of four rounds, so this margin of error is way smaller than usual. Is it a good solution?
It's got two sides. Seems like a good one, but on the other hand, with a bigger amount of rounds, you can always have some small fails. With 4 rounds, they can never happen, especially these serious ones. In every round you've got to be in the top and not lose a lot to the winners. This margin of error is minimal here. Line up is great and you've got to do your best to end in the top. You can tell that that there could be more of these rounds, but on the other hand this system promotes the best. Everyone is highly concentrated on each of the rounds. There are no random winners in here. I'm really glad that SEC goes that way. Usually, rounds are taking place at different tracks: these short and long ones with a different geometry. Therefore, it can be said that through SEC formula, the best rider in Europe is chosen - the one that's effective through the whole season, doesn't catch the fails and can deal with any track. I can only be happy that I'm in the top that guarantees the starts in the next season and that's very important for me.
SEC 2015 was dominated by the TOP3 riders, who got the significant advantage over the others, but still noone could complain about the lack of emotions in the cycle, right?
Yeah, definitely. We could see it in the last round, where a lot was known, but still the fight was hard till the very end. Generally, there are some great riders in SEC. It's star-studded and there are no random riders. These who get the promotion from the TOP of the cycle fully deserved it. Great advantage of the eliminations' system is the fact that they are set in the season when the cycle is held. It's not like with eliminations taking place one year earlier, because in that case, it's quite often that this disposition goes down during the winter and with a beginning of the season, it's way different. Here, these who start well and go through qualis, are in a good disposition that matters during the cycle. It's a big plus.
