Maciej Janowski and Maksym Drabik is the speedway duo, which joined the School of Champions program, held under the auspices of Lotto. Both teams are members of National Polish Speedway Team, which will challenge the rest of the world at PGE Narodowy (Warsaw) on May 15. - I've got a long ruler prepared and will not hesitate to use it - Maciej Janowski joked. 25 y.o. rider became the master and a mentor for his Betard Sparta teammate - Maksym Drabik.
Drabik is a well-known name in the speedway world thanks to successes of his dad - Sławomir, multiple medalist of Polish, European and World Championship. Now, his son is following his steps and his talent, work ethics and engagament have been noticed by the speedway experts, who predict him a long career.
Janowski and Drabik have just joined the LOTTO School of Champions - We signed a one year deal, with a triple possibility to prolong it for another year. That's why the whole program can last even four years - which should be enough to raise a champion - said Grzegorz Sołtysiński, board's member of Totalizator Sportowy Sp. z o.o. - We've been supporting speedway, cooperating with Polish Motosport Association in LOTTO Warsaw FIM SGP of Poland, plus we see speedway as popular as football, so our natural decision was to have a speedway duo in our school.
Another man, who predicts a path full of successes to this pair is the President of the Supervisory Board of Sparta Wrocław - Andrzej Rusko. Maciej, despite his young age is a very shaped rider, a champion full of calmness, mindfulness and a wisdom at the track. Maksym is however, the most talented young rider since Tomasz Gollob. I am sure that they will both make a benefit out of this cooperation, because the LOTTO School of Champions gives not only the financial support, but the know-how as well, which significantly speeds up rider's career - said Andrzej Rusko.
Maciej Janowski treats this challenge as a huge distinction, but he's aware of the big effort that both riders are about to make. - I have to admit that I'm surprised, because I've never been a champion for myself. Successes came with a hard work - said always modest Polish rider. - Maksym is really determined, but he's also into listening other people's advices. We have a lot of respect and surely will be learning from each other a lot - added Janowski.
- Right now, we've been cooperating well at the track, got some great atmosphere in between. I just hope that Maciej will not have use that ruler often - Drabik summed up laughing.
