One of the favourites of the battle in the second round of Speedway Euro Championship was Grigorij Laguta and Russian got the things done great. During the rainy ceremony of the best riders of the evening he was standing at the top of the rostrum.
Rivalry of the best European riders in Latvia satisfied even the most choosy fans of speedway. Fight at the distance, tackles close to fauls and a decisive order at the very last meters created a fantastic show.
- It was a great meeting - said Grigorij Laguta, one of the show's hero. - I think that with all that drama and spectacular show it was at least as the Grand Prix rounds. Boys showed how to fight for points. It is clear that there are four rounds in SEC competition. It's not a lot, so everyone is fighting hard till the very last meters in every heat. This close fight in SEC is perfectly mirrored in the overall classification. Between the first and fourteenth rider there is only a 5-point difference.
As it turned out, fact that Grigorij Laguta missed the first round in Güstrow, doesn't mean that Russian cannot dream about the ultimate triumph. Coming back to the rivalry in Latvia - before its start, Laguta announced a fight for the win. His self confidence could not be a surprise, because he knows this venue like the back of his hand.
- I feel this track and know every stone here - added Grisha. - I started in Lokomotiv for few years, both in the Polish second and first league. In the extraleague, I was not able to compete in Lokomotiv suit, but who knows, maybe in few years, this club will take part in it as well.
With his great performance in Latvia, older Laguta brother, confirmed that one can trust in his words. That gives a good prediction before the next rounds, because Russian has announced fighting for another wins.
- I have known Togliatti for so many years and have been doing great there ever since. I live in Daugavpils, but Russia is my home and everything is working out there great. Support of the fans is fantastic out there. Final of the Speedway Euro Championship will be held in Rybnik and this track fits me as well - smiles Laguta, currently 12th overall.
