In every round of the Speedway Euro Championship, there's a rider starting with so called 'wild card', letting him to race in a single round. This year's choices were really accurate, because two of four riders ended at the podium or were really close to it.
Let's start from the weakest one here - Andriey Kudriashov, who got only 3 points in the SEC round in Togliatti. Actually, he got them in his first two heats and was losing awarded positions later on. Despite his poor result, his racing was a one to admire.
Six points in Rybnik was a Kacper Woryna's score. What's important, grandson of a legendary Polish speedway rider Antoni, won one heat and after three series, was really close to the race-off heat. Unfortunately for him, two last heats did not go well to ROW Rybnik's junior and ultimately he ended the meeting with six points gathered.
Time to move on to other two riders, who found themselves in the top. First, it was Kai Huckenbeck with a fabolous performance in Güstrow. After five series, he had 9 points and got to the race-off from the third place. He didn't handle it and didn't get the promotion to the final. However, a horrible weather brought him luck and the results were counted after the main series. That led Kai Huckenbeck to the podium of Speedway Euro Championship. After this fabolous performance, he signed a contract in Poland - in Polonia Bydgoszcz, where he has performed well.
That last wild card's holder was Maxims Bogdanovs, who ended as 4th in Daugavpils. He was close from the podium, however at the second lap, he overcharged and hit the back wheel of Emil Sayfutdinov's bike and fell on the track.
