On Saturday (25.05) in Gorican (Croatia), 16 riders will fight for promotion to this year's Speedway Euro Championship. Pass to the four final rounds of SEC will be reached by 7 best riders of this meeting.
Four riders went through from each of the 4 semi-finals, which took place in Terenzano, Lamothe-Landerron and Mureck. The only difference was in Nagyhalász, where it was TOP3 going through with fourth Janusz Kołodziej securing the reserve position. "Wild Card" for the Saturday's meeting was given to Jurica Pavlic, local's favourite.
After the tournament, another three "wild cards", opening the doors to fight for medals, will be given. Five best riders from last year have already secured their spots for 2017. This list includes: Leon Madsen (Denmark), Grigorij Laguta (Russia), Krzysztof Kasprzak (Czech Republic) and title-defender Nicki Pedersen (Denmark).
This year's series of Speedway Euro Championship consits of four rounds. First one is taking place on June 30 at Motoarena in Toruń. Then, riders move to Güstrow (15.07), Hallstavik (05.08). Medals of the European Championship will be given during the final round in Lublin (Poland), which is planned on September 16.
SEC Challenge starts at 7 PM. Live broadcast will be provided by Sabmar TV.
