Andreas Jonsson is the only representative od Sweden in this year's Speedway Euro Championship. Swede is back in fighting for European's gold after a three-year break and in fact, he's got an ace up on his sleeve - one of rounds will be taken at his home track - Hallstavik.

Andreas Jonsson was born on September 3, 1980 in Stockholm. First big AJ's success came, when he was 20. In Gorzów Wielkopolski, he reached for the Individual Junior World Championship and one year later, along with the Swedish national team, got the bronze in Speedway World Cup. Between 2002 and 2016, Jonsson was a permanent participant of the Grand Prix series, where he got 9 victories. His best season was 2011. Back then, he got silver medal of individual world championship after finishing 3 single rounds at the top. Despite his individual success, he also got two gold medals with his league teams - one in Poland and one in Sweden. In his rich collection of medals, there is only one thing missing - European Championship's one.

His first and so far the only attempt of fighting in Speedway Euro Championship series, Jonsson got in 2014. In the second edition of changed European Championship, Swede was 7th, losing 7 points to the 5th spot guaranteeing starts in the next season.

This year, world's vice-champion from 2011 has a lot to prove not only to the fans, but also to himself. After a weaker season, many crossed Swede's chances for any kind of trophies. Start in this year's Speedway Euro Championship can be Jonsson's last in his career to get the Euro medal. Swede has got some big advantages here. Despite his huge experience, gathered throughout the years, third round of European Championship will take place in Hallstavik, at the track, where Jonsson is a true king and now every single stone. As SEC story shows, one round can in fact take you from the bottom to the very top, as it happened in Rybnik back in 2016. Before the last round, Nicki Pedersen was 9th overall and after 22 heats in Rybnik, he was celebrating the European Champion title.

First round of Speedway Euro Championship comes on June 30, 2017 at 7 PM CET.
