Because of his injuries caight in 2017, Nicolai Klindt decided to pull the plug off of this season. Dane will return in the next season.
2017 was one of Klindt's best. Dane had some good performances on tracks in Poland, GB and he got the promotion to Speedway Euro Championship 2017, thanks to his great racing in SEC Challenge, which took place in Gorican. Troubles started when he caught an injury during the Polish League 1 match. Klindt took part in a crash, where he injured his knee.
- I didn't feel i could compete at the level i normally would be able too due to my injury. It was difficult for me to hang on to the bike and also control the bike due to no strenght or stability in me knee. I could ride, but i couldn't race and then its no fun!
After his comeback on track, it was time to have his debiut in the European Championship. During the first round of SEC 2017 in Toruń, Klindt had a horribly looking crash, after which, he was transported to the hospital. Problems with knee were joined by shoulders, chest and back pains.
- The main injury i have is my knee injury which i got on the 4th of june in the polish league. In gustrow i had problems putting on my helmet and goggles due to pain in my shoulders, chest and back.
Bad luck came in the season, which could've been the best in his professional career.
- I have worked so hard since i got my plaster off from my wrist injury in the winter towards the SEC and league racing, because i know how good i can be when i'm 100% prepared and 100% focus. I was more consistent this year and it was because of all the hard work i've put in outside racing and because i got good people around me.
The next 6-8 months is going to be really hard for me, because i'm not very good with rehabilitation, but its something i have to do. i was to come back to SEC next year and i want to start better than i did this year for sure.
Because of a premature ending of the season, Klindt's mechanic was left with no job. Rider assured that in these hard times, he'll take care of his financial background.
- Unfortunately my mechanic can't work when i'm not racing, so i'm trying to get him some work so he can earn some money as well. He has worked for me since 2013 and i'm really happy to have him in my team so far!
Advancing to this year's Speedway Euro Championship was one of the biggest achievements in Dane's career. Rider from Outrup believes than in the next season, he'll also have a chance to start in SEC series.
- I want to thank everyone at One Sport and hope to be able to race in SEC next year too!
