The second year of rivalry in Speedway European Championships is behind us. In 2013 The cross was put really high in 2013 season. Before 2013 the tournament was rather parochial but thanks to the effort of many people fans finally could see the series of four tournaments with very good riders. After the final event in Rzeszów we announced that in new season we wanted to make another step forward and improve our product all the time.
The year 2014 definitely wasn’t easy for SEC. There were opinions that riders won’t be allowed to start in Grand Prix and SEC but finally there was an agreement in this case. This time we decided to chose four places: Gustrow, Togliatti, Holsted and Częstochowę. It was perfect in Togliatti last year but the other three choices were new in the series.
Debut in Gustrow probably surprised everybody because Germans reacted really in a positive way for the fact that they were going to organize the inaugural tournament of European Championship. The fans ensured their seats on their own (by bringing different chairs and loungers) and they proved that the event at a high level can take place in such atmosphere – not only at beautiful and really big stadiums.
Russian Togliatti is a place known from last season. This time mission was also successful and fans also didn’t fail. Third visit took place in Denmark, exactly at the stadium in Holsted. Local fans weren’t fully satisfied because their favorite Nicki Pedersen didn’t have a good day.
Finally Częstochowa. Finding out who will be the European champion is always connected with great emotions. If we add great riding of Grigorij Laguta, Peter Kildemand and strong support from Slovakian, Croatian and Russian fans we can see that these are countries really missing speedway at the highest level.
Again we saw really interesting fight and mainly new faces in the series. Emil Sajfutdinow became the champion so this what he failed to do last year, he managed to do now. At the moment, when the season is ended we are going to work harder to improve all imperfections. We want to improve our product for fans all the time.
We will meet at stadiums next season!
