Andreas Jonsson had his debut season in Speedway European Championships series. It was really solid year of Jonsson although it should be admitted that his scores were better in the second part of the season.
He was supposed to start in SEC last year. However then it was impossible because of the injury which “AJ” got during Grand Prix Denmark in Copenhagen. He was replaced then by Fredrik Lindgren. This year he was able to fight for the title of European Champion. It was quite average because Swede didn’t qualify to the final even once.
At the beginning it was not bad score in Gustrow where he qualified to the last chance heat. At the end he had nine points which was quite positive sign for the future. However in Togliatti he couldn’t find the right rhythm and he had only five points.
In Holsted again he didn’t manage to qualify to the last chance heat and although it was close, eight points weren’t enough to fight for the final and the podium. In Częstochowa it was similarly. Solid, equal racing and eventually he missed one point to qualify to the last chance heat.
The seventh place is definitely not the one which Jonsson had dreamt of before the season. We can be sure that next season he will try to qualify to SEC series and he would like to prove that he is able to win the medal of Speedway European Championships.
