Most of last season Grigorij Laguta spent at home, rehabilitating the injured leg. When he came back on a track he started to fascinate fans again. Russian will help his countrymen on the 28th March in Toruń when the inauguration of Speedway Best Pairs Cup takes place.
Soon the first event in the season takes place, Speedway Best Pairs Cup at MotoArena in Toruń. Are you looking forward to it?
- Yes, for sure I’m waiting for this day because I would like to ride in some event. It doesn’t even matter if it is individual tournament, league match, SBPC or European Championship.
Last season you had an injury which caused that you weren’t able to ride for quite a long time. Do you consider last year as the one which was lost for you?
- Well, generally you can say so but injuries happen. It’s past, we can’t turn back the time and now the new season is coming.
So the injury is totally behind you…
- Yes, it doesn’t interrupt me in any way. It was long time ago and I don’t think about it anymore.
Can we say that because of that injury you are looking forward to the season 2015 even more impatient and more motivated?
- It’s true that this injury caused that I rode only a little. I didn’t take part in the events which were important for me. In 2014 there were also financial problems so everything went really hard. Problems in Włokniardz also had an influence on my last year racing. Then there were also problems with this injury so there were really some bad things which interrupted me. However this is behind me, this 2014 and now I think only about season 2015, to be well prepared and I hope that everything will go well.
In Poland you’ve changed the club, now you will be riding in Toruń. Do you like racing at MotoArena?
- Yes, of course. Apart from that there are a lot of good riders, a lot of fans during matches and with the representatives we’ve come to agreement really quickly and we’ve signed the contract. I’m very happy that I’ll be riding in Toruń.
As we said Speedway Best Pairs Cup is the first so serious event in the season. Do you think that all riders will be prepared in one hundred per cent or maybe we should expect some surprise?
- It’s difficult to answer for your questions for me because I don’t know how other riders’ preparations are going. Trainings before the season will be also important, we don’t know when they will be possible because of the weather. I guess those who will ride some more before the season will feel more confident but it’s difficult to say who will be the best.
What do you think about the other tracks on which Speedway Best Pairs Cup tournaments take place? I mean Gustrow and Esbjerg…
- There is still some time to these tournaments so there will be a lot of trainings and we can prepare for it. As far as the tracks in Gustrow and Esbjerg are concerned we always have trainings before events and that’s enough to find the right settings and score many points. Everything has to be checked, just as on the other tracks.
Before season 2015 we have another changes concerning silencers. What influence does it have on your equipment preparations?
- Equipment is equipment, just we have to check these silencers because I haven’t had an opportunity to test them yet, I haven’t even seen them. We’ll check everything, how a bike behaves when they are used, it will be either a little bit weaker or stronger and we’ll set everything well. Everything will be clear after first tests.
How would you encourage fans to come at MotoArena on the 28th March?
- I would like to, well I guess all riders would like to, see the stadium full! I hope than fans from the whole Poland will come. I think it will be very interesting event, there will be definitely a lot of fight and a the beginning of the season everybody will do his best.
Do you feel any additional emotions because you are a rider of hosts?
- Yes, definitely. Every rider who rides in Toruń feels the same. In a similar situation will be for example Holder because hosts are always treated in a different way by fans.
