Leon Madsen won TAURON Speedway Euro Championship 2018 series. In Chorzów, Dane ended the meeting with maximum points. Other spots on the podium were taken by Jarosław Hampel and Robert Lambert.
30.000 people attended the stands at Śląski Stadium in Chorzów and they witnessed a spectacular triumph by Leon Madsen. After the first series of starts, Dane extender his advantage over Jarosław Hampel. Madsen was truly unstoppable tonight – maximum points and title of Individual Speedway European Champion reached after fourth series of starts left everyone with no doubts who was the best European rider in 2018.
- It was an incredible season. I’m extremely happy how it ends. I’m glad I put my name in the history of Śląski Stadium as the Individual Speedway European Champion. Even though I gathered maximum points, it was not an easy meeting – Leon Madsen said.
Polish fans had expected Jarosław Hampel to catch up a four-point loss to Madsen. However, in the first series of starts, he made this task hard. Heat after heat, Pole was doing better and better, but still it was not enough. Hampel, instead of catching Madsen, had to fight for securing second position, because Robert Lambert was putting pressure right behind his back.
Congratulations to Robert and Leon for this series. I’m glad with my secondo place. Madsen was truly out of Reach. I made too many mistakes to be able to Reach for gold – Hampel said
Robert Lambert had a fantastic debut in TAURON SEC series. Brit, in his first season, won the round in Guestrow and jumper on the podium in Daugavpils. In Chorzów, „Ruthless” got 8 points, which LED him to third position in the overall classification.
- My goal was to secure the spot in TOP 5 and I manager to do so. I’m really happy I got bronze in my debut season – Lambert said.
In Chorzów, an extremely interesting fight was going on to promote to SEC 2019. Position from 4th to 6th were changing all the time and it was Mikkel Michelsen and Antonio Lindbaeck, who ended the series in the TOP 5. Both riders gathered 40 points. Emil Sayfutdinov’s drop was a big surprise – in Daugavpils, Russian announced fighting for medal, however he left Chorzów as the 6th rider of the series.
TAURON Speedway Euro Championship was unique because of many reasons and one of them was the venue of final round. Śląski Stadium hostem European top riders and assured a passionato show to the fans.
- Huge applause for One Sport, who made a really big thing and prepared a great track at this beautiful venue – Leon Madsen said.
