We are already after two of five final rounds in this year's TAURON SEC series. In both of them – on the tracks in Toruń and Bydgoszcz – the Dane Leon Madsen won. The Individual European Champion of 2018 has also done something, that will definitely become part of the history of this competition.
The Dane, who from the beginning of this year’s cycle confirmed his high disposition, winning the first two rounds of TAURON SEC extended the number of presence on the podium of individual tournaments in which he performed to eight. It all began in the 2018 season, in which he became the winner of the series and won the gold medal.
This amazing number consists of three performances from 2018 and 2019 and two wins this year. Leon Madsen started it almost exactly two years ago. On 14th of July 2018, in German Güstrow, he took second place, losing only to the Brit Robert Lambert in the final. The next two rounds of that season took place in Latvian Daugavpils and in Chorzów. In them the Dane was already the best and at the Silesian Stadium he scored the maximum of 18 points, winning all heats.
Last year's runner-up of Individual World Championship in the 2019 season continued the series of tournaments of TAURON SEC in which he took the place on the podium. At the inauguration of the series in Güstrow, just like last year, he took second place, losing only to the Russian Grigorij Laguta. In the next event, which took place at Torun’s Motoarena, he was the best again. Due to an injury Madsen missed the round, which was hosted in his country, more precisely at the Vojens Speedway Center venue. Absence in this tournament didn’t change his form in the next one, in which he competed. The last TAURON SEC 2019 final round took place again in Chorzów, where the triumph was achieved by Mikkel Michelsen and Madsen satisfied with the second position. In the end the Silesian Stadium was still happy for him, because after the additional heat with Kacper Woryna he won the bronze medal at the Individual European Championships.
The number of podium places in the rounds of the TAURON SEC cycle was extended in the 2020 season. Although Madsen in tournaments in Toruń and Bydgoszcz didn’t reach the final straight after regular series and had to fight in the race-offs, in the last heats of the day the last word belonged to him. After two of the five rounds this year, he is the leader of the general classification with 26 points and is definitely one of the main favorites of this competition. The next TAURON Speedway Euro Championship final tournament will take place on 15th of July at the track in Gniezno. The stadium named after Colonel Franciszek Hynek is ... the last place, where Madsen didn’t take the podium place in this competition. On this venue the fight for the Individual European Championship started in the 2018 season. The Dane in this tournament took 9th place with 8 points. This time it will be a chance to improve the result, which shouldn’t be so difficult. If he will manage to take place on the podium again, then his wonderful series of performances with a place on the Top 3 will be extended to nine. When we are watching his performances this year, for sure we can say, that this scenario is likely.
