Patryk Dudek finished as the third at Saturday's competition in Güstrow. The Pole scored 12 points but - as he stresses - he hoped for more.
Dudek has been in great form since the beginning of this year's Speedway Euro Championship series. This time he advanced to the final race after the main round.
In Güstrow, the representative of Poland reached the finish line in the first or third place. Especially important for him was heat 5, in which - as he claims - a mistake made him unable to choose a better gate before the final race.
- In Güstrow I was able to advance directly to the final, but I know that I made it difficult for myself because I didn't use the advantage of the good third gate in the fifth heat. I got stucked in the ground and ended up scoring one point, which meant I couldn't pick first before the final. It's a pitty, that I couldn't pick fourth gate because I'm sure it would have been better.
In the final race of the day Dudek did everything he could to beat Leon Madsen, but at the same time he had to look behind his back, where Bartosz Smektala was looking for his chance. In the end 'Duzers' finished on third place.
Thanks to the high score, Dudek is now fourth in the interim classification of the series, losing one point to the medal zone.
- I'm on the podium and we should be happy about it. We are coming home safe and sound. We go on to the next round.
