Michelsen: Rybnik will be a great spectacle

Share on:

Mikkel Michelsen stood on the highest step of the podium during the third round of Speedway Euro Championship 2021. Thanks to his high score the Dane equaled with Piotr Pawlicki in the interim classification of the series. Both riders have 39 points each.

Throughout this year's cycle of Individual European Championships, Mikkel Michelsen impresses with his efficiency. In Gdańsk, the Dane won as many as four races, thanks to which he finished the meeting with 15 points scored. As in Bydgoszcz, the 2018 European Champion won his promotion to the final already in the regular part of the competition. In the last race of the day, Michelsen had a great duel with Leon Madsen. The riders overtook theirselves several times. At the end, Michelsen crossed the finish line first.

The Dane stresses, that he is satisfied with his performance so far, but the most important thing for him is the place at the end of the whole series.

- The first two rounds were good for me. I just missed a little bit in Bydgoszcz. In Bydgoszcz I gambled a little. In Güstrow, I was sitting on the second place in the race off but Leon passed both of us. Now it was definitely nice to finish on top of the podium, but it would be nice to be on the podium in general. I'm pretty happy with tonight.

Rybnik will be the host of the Grand Final of Speedway Euro Championship 2021. Mikkel Michelsen could not imagine a better place to win the title than the city where he lives every day.

- It's nice to pull back the points in the interim classification. I'm looking very much forward to next Saturday. It's my hometown, it's where I live - I love that place, so it's gonna be a lot of friends, family and local support there. I'm looking foward to that.

Both fans and riders are already looking forward to Saturday's competition. The minor points differences mean that the final results may be made in the final phase of the competition.

- The competition is gonna be very furious, everything is so close at the top. If people think, that tonight was close, they'are gonna get a proper show in Rybnik - that's for sure.
