For David Bellego the competition in Rybnik was the first in this year's cycle of Speedway Euro Championship. Due to an injury, the Frenchman couldn’t take part in previous rounds, but during Saturday's competition he presented himself from a very good side.
Bellego is one of the most unlucky riders in recent years in the SEC series. Once again, he couldn't take part in all the rounds due to an injury. In Rybnik, the representative of France was promoted to the race off, in which he reached the finish line as last.
- I'm really disappointed, because it was my third year in the SEC series and still I couldn't attend in every round. I'm happy to be back at least for the last one. I can't complain about that night, it went good. It was my first meeting after the injury. I wasn't on the bike for four weeks so I'm happy about tonight. Just a shame about the last race. When we make a semi we always want one more. Happy days, I'm back on the bike, my body feeling better so hopefully, I’ll find my best shape soon.
Heat No. 18 was very exciting and Bellego had a great duel with Patrick Hansen. The three points he scored in this race earned him a place in the race off.
- I knew that gate three is going to be tough, but I had a good start. It went better and better with the setup through the night, and we make it work at the end. Not enough for the last race, but overall - we had a good night, so I can't complain.
