Daniel Bewley finished third during the second round of the TAURON SEC 2022, which was held last Saturday in Güstrow. For the Brit, it was his first start in this year's IEC series.
Bewley was unable to take part in the round in Rybnik due to an injury suffered in PGE Ekstraliga match. Taking to the consideration TAURON SEC's scoring system and the number of rounds, winning a medal in 18 races would be unusual, but as Leon Madsen has shown in 2019, it is not impossible. The British rider doesn't put any extra pressure on himself regarding the result, and he would consider a place in the TOP 5 of the general classification a big success.
- It's a shame I missed the first round, because it's going to be extremely hard to fight for medals, but right now, for me, it's just about coming up and have some fun. If we make the TOP 5, that would be good, but there is no pressure on me.
Bewley did very well in Güstrow. With 12 points scored, he only loses six points to fifth-placed Bartosz Smektała. Importantly, the races involving the Brit were fascinating and full of overtaking.
- I had three or four races tonight, which were pretty good. That's the track, where we race close together. In the final, I was trying to pass Patryk, Madsen was trying to pass me and I think Patryk was trying to pass Janusz. So, we were all fighting.
For Daniel, it was the third podium in the TAURON SEC series and another third place.
- I'm happy to be on the podium. Obviously, higher would be nice, but that was the first round for me and I'm happy with it.
The third round of TAURON Speedway Euro Championship 2022 will take place on September 3rd in Łódz. Tickets for this event are available via ebilet.pl.
