On September 23rd, in Pardubice we will know the Individual European Champion. There are a few main candidates to win, but in fact, we are going to witness the title battle between Janusz Kołodziej and Leon Madsen. Before the final round, the Dane is only points behind the Pole.
Without a doubt, both are the best riders of TAURON Speedway Euro Championship 2022. Madsen won the inaugural round in Rybnik, while Kołodziej stood up on the highest step of the podium in Gustrow and Łódź.
Recent results shows, that both deserve to win the title, but only one can be crowned in Pardubice. One of Madsen's advantages can be his experience in the series. The Dane is the highest scoring rider in TAURON SEC history, and he already won the title - in 2018 - and grabbed the medals in four consecutive seasons.
On the other side, Kołodziej is also in a great form during the whole season and his calendar is not as full as Madsen's. Because of Unia Leszno's results in PGE Ekstraliga and lack of racing is Sweden, Kołodziej can focus on the TAURON SEC final, while Madsen already participated in two SGP rounds, Polish league finals and round in Łódź.
The track in Pardubice is exceptionally long, but both are doing well in these circumstances. Taking to the consideration their skills and current form, every scenario is possible. Who will step up on the highest step of the podium? We will find out on the upcoming Friday.
