Due to the injuries suffered in Polish league matches Dimitri Berge and Janusz Kołodziej are not able to take part in the first round of TAURON Speedway Euro Championship 2024, which will be held this Saturday in Debrecen. The French will be replaced by Jacob Thorssell, while the Pole will be replaced by Bartłomiej Kowalski.
Berge is recovering from a serious crash that happened during a Metalkas 2. Ekstraliga match in Rybnik. He will be replaced by Jacob Thorssell, who, so far, has participated in four rounds of the Individual European Championships, scoring 28 points in 21 starts.
For Kołodziej, this will be the second consecutive season he misses the inaugural round of the series due to an injury. The third-place finisher of TAURON SEC 2023 is still recovering from an injury sustained in a PGE Ekstraliga match in Grudziądz. His spot in Debrecen will be taken by Bartłomiej Kowalski. Interestingly, the 22-year-old is a graduate of Janusz Kołodziej's speedway school. This will be Kowalski's debut in the TAURON Speedway Euro Championship.
