Leon Madsen won the silver medal at the 2024 TAURON Speedway Euro Championship. The Dane now has seven Individual European Championship medals to his name.
Until the very end, it was uncertain whether Madsen would compete in the final round of the 2024 TAURON SEC. Two weeks ago, the Dane suffered a serious crash during the SGP round in Riga. Despite this, the two-time European Champion competed in the final round and left the Śląski Stadium with the silver medal.
- It’s great to win another medal. Of course, I would have preferred gold, but as it turned out today, Andzejs' six-point lead was too much to overcome. The event at the Śląski Stadium was stressful for me, as it was my first race since my serious crash.
Despite the challenges with the track, the Dane put on an impressive performancet. He ultimately finished second in the event, just behind his fellow countryman, Anders Thomsen. How does he rate the track and the atmosphere at the Śląski Stadium?
- Today’s track wasn’t the easiest. The organizers did their best to prepare it as well as possible despite unfavorable weather conditions. In the end, I think the track was fine. A lot of people came to the stadium, creating an amazing atmosphere. For me, racing at the Śląski Stadium was a pleasure.
The medal he won this year is the seventh in his history of competing in the TAURON Speedway Euro Championship. So, can it be said that the European Championship is one of Leon Madsen’s favorite events?
- Everyone would like to become the Individual European Champion. Racing in the World Championship is something special for me, but in the TAURON SEC, I always want to perform at my best. Who knows? Maybe next year, I’ll win the title.
Dane claimed the silver for the second year in a row. Is he satisfied with how this year’s series went?
- It was a good year for me. The only thing that didn’t go my way was the opening round in Debrecen. However, considering what I’m currently going through in my personal life, I think I can be happy with the silver medal.
