The TAURON Speedway Euro Championship 2024 is done and dusted. How did it stack up statistically? Let’s take a closer look at this year’s competition through the lens of key figures and stats.
Riders battled for the title of Individual European Champion across four rounds hosted in three countries: Hungary, Germany, and Poland. A total of 88 races took place in Debrecen, Grudziądz, Güstrow, and Chorzów. At least one of these heats featured 24 riders representing 10 different nations, with Poles forming the largest contingent at seven participants.
For the second time in his career, Andžejs Ļebedevs claimed the gold medal in the Individual European Championship. The Latvian rider started his campaign in the best possible way, winning the inaugural round in Debrecen — his first-ever victory in a single SEC round. After a slight dip in form in Grudziądz, Ļebedevs shone in Güstrow and finished the series with 50 points overall. His dominance is well shown by the fact that he crossed the finish line first in 14 out of 22 heats.
Leon Madsen had to settle for the silver medal this time around. The Dane remains the undisputed leader of the all-time Speedway Euro Championship medal table. This achievement becomes even more remarkable considering that the 35-year-old hasn’t missed the SEC podium since 2018. Over that stretch, he has claimed two golds, four silvers, and one bronze medal.
For the first time in his career, Kacper Woryna earned a spot on the TAURON SEC podium. The Polish rider consistently performed well, finishing within the top seven in all four rounds. He particularly shone in Grudziądz and Chorzów, where he secured second and third places, respectively.
The four final heats of the TAURON SEC 2024 featured a total of 11 riders. Leon Madsen made it to the last race of the day three times, the most of any competitor. Other riders who reached the final four included Andžejs Ļebedevs, Kacper Woryna, Anders Thomsen, Piotr Pawlicki, Patryk Dudek, Rasmus Jensen, Maciej Janowski, Dimitri Berge, Max Fricke, and Jacob Thorssell.
