Championship title defender, Mikkel Michelsen took sixth place in the first round of TAURON Speedway Euro Championship 2020 in Toruń. The Dane scored 10 points, but as he said, his result was far behind his expectations.

Last year’s fantastic performances made everyone believe, that Mikkelsen could be the second rider in history who would become European Champion two times in a row.

In Toruń, Michelsen was fighting not only on the track, but in the pits too. The Danish rider was struggling with the right setup and he described his own performance as…

- Terrible. I don't know what to say. I’m a little bit disappointed, but I was struggling all night, making a lot of mistakes. I didn't feel fast, but the main thing was making too many mistakes like I already said. The track was very slick which made it hard to pass there. Normally, Toruń is known for good racing, but ... I've been in Toruń a few times in my life and I've never seen such a slick track before, so it made the racing a little difficult for me. However, the track was the same for everyone but it was not the start that I wanted – said Mikkel Michelsen.

The second round of the series will be held in Bydgoszcz upcoming Wednesday. The title defender believes, that his performance will be much better than in Toruń, even if he did not have to many chances to start on the local track.

- I've been there two times in my life, so I don't really remember how it is. I think, last time I was there in 2015 or something, so... Well, I'm looking forward to Bydgoszcz for sure and hopefully I can do a little bit better than I did tonight and I guess everything will be fine.

The second round of TAURON Speedway Euro Championship 2020 will be held in Bydgoszcz on 8th of July. The meeting starts at 7 PM. Tickets for the event are available via eBilet.pl. The meeting will be broadcasted by Eurosport.
