Dimitri Berge had a very successful start to the series. The French rider finished in a strong fifth place in the opening round and expressed his joy with his performance.
This is his second year in the Speedway Euro Championship. He finished in a distant twelfth place last season, but everything indicates that the current edition of the European championship will be better for the French rider.
- Of course, I could always ride better, but I am very happy with my performance. The fifth place in Częstochowa gives me even more confidence for the remaining three rounds of the series - Berge commented on his performance in the opening round.
The 2023 season is shaping up well for him. The 27-year-old is a key rider for his teams in the Polish and Swedish leagues. Furthermore, thanks to his victory in the SEC Challenge, the Frenchman is able to compete in this year's series. Has Berge made significant changes to his preparation or equipment compared to previous years?
- Compared to last year, I haven't really changed anything. However, I always try to approach everything professionally so that I can become better on the track with each race - French explained.
After the first round of the TAURON SEC 2023, the French rider is positioned near the top of the series. What is the main goal for the former Individual Long Track World Champion in the European championship?
- My goal is to be in the top five of the overall classification and secure a place in next year's series. If I achieve that, I will be really happy. We still have a long way to go. We'll see what time will show - Berge revealed.
The next stop in this year's series is Guestrow. SEC will visit the German city for the eighth time. Berge did not consider last year's competition in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as successful. In five starts, he only scored one point, which placed him last.
- The races in Guestrow were a disaster for me. But there's another day ahead. I will go there with a completely different mindset. I know I'm capable of a good result - Berge concluded positively.
