Maksims Bogdanovs hasn’t qualified to Speedway European Championships series but due to the injury of Grigorij Laguta, Latvian has already started twice – in Gustrow and Togliatti. Both starts were quite successful because both in Germany and Russia he scored 8 points.

Grigorij Laguta got injured during the Russian league match. The injury of Russian has opened the gate to SEC for Latvian, Bogdanovs. Maksims has seized the opportunity because at the halfway point he is seventh in general classification. With 16 points he is just behind Patryk Dudek who is higher in the classification only because he was better in the last tournament.

In Gustrow he was really close to the race off but he wasn’t lucky enough and needed two points more which he lost for a distance in his heats. In Togliatti after two worse heats he won with Jurica Pavlic, Andreas Jonsson and Andrzejs Lebedevs. For a great applause he deserved in the nineteenth heat when he won with unbeaten that day in Togliatti, current European Champion, Martin Vaculik.

Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to qualify to the race off and to fight for something more. Despite of this fact Latvian’s score was really good. Twice his form was equal and thanks to this he has good place in general classification. It is very probable that in Holsted he will replace Grigorij Laguta for the third time and he will fight again for a good score for him and his country.
