Mikkel Michelsen took fourth place in this year's TAURON Speedway Euro Championship series. Before the start of the competition, The Dane announced the fight to defend his title he won a year ago, but less successful tournaments in Rybnik, Gniezno and Toruń crossed out his chances for final victory.

Mikkel Michelsen scored 46 points in the five-round TAURON SEC 2020 cycle. It is worth to mention, that a year ago, when four tournaments for the title of Individual European Champion were held, the Dane ended the series with 45 points.

The first two rounds of the cycle were successful for Michelsen. The Dane scored 23 points in there and was at the top of the interim classification. The situation was different in the other rounds. Michelsen couldn't break through the main part of the competition, so he finished in ninth, eighth and again ninth place respectively.

The 2019 European Individual Champion stressed that his main problems were the proper bikes setup and the lack of consistency, which transferred into his score in the TAURON SEC 2020 cycle.

- For me, this cycle was difficult. I was not consistent enough. The first round was good, the second was very successful, but the other three didn't go my way. We had a lot of problems with motorcycle setup. The victory wasn't written to me this year. As I said before, I really wanted to defend the title or at least stand on the podium. I had an attitude towards the last round to fight for TOP 3, but I couldn't do it. All in all, I'm satisfied because fourth place is still a very good result," said Mikkel Michelsen.
