Last season Tomasz Gollob was fighting for a medal of Speedway European Championships but really bad injury made impossible for him to start in Rzeszów during the last tournament. This time the biggest hope of Poles is Janusz Kołodziej who loses five points to medal zone.

It seems that five points is quite many but we should remember that last year, the current European Champion, Martin Vaculik managed to undo even six points and beat Nicki Pedesen who seemed quite sure of the victory. Surely Poles count on Kołodziej because he is the best Polish rider from the beginning of the series.

He started to train speedway when he was 12. After four years he passed the exam and got speedway license. He had debut during the U21 event in Lublin. His first start in the league took place during the match with Gwardia Warszawa. Kołodziej scored 9 points in 5 starts. Kołodziej is triple Polish Champion. Lately ho won another medal on the track in Zielona Góra, this time bronze one.

If we look at his scores in Speedway European Championships series, we can see that the best one was during the inauguration in Gustrow, Germany. 14 points gave him, together with Nicki Pedersen, to position of the leader of European Championship. Unfortunately the later starts in Togliatti and Holsted weren’t so successful f as Pole would expect. Especially the tournament in Russia wasn’t easy because Polish rider scored only six points. A little bit better was in Holsted where he scored eight points.

The great final is on th 19th of September in Częstochowa so on the track where Koldi can start quite often during the Polish league matches. This season, while he was riding as a visitor there, he scored eight points in four heats and he had contribution in the victory of his team 50:40. Kołodziej counts on support of Polish fans during the final of SEC and promises to fight for the fourteenth medal for Poland in the history of Individual European Championship!

We encourage fans to buy the tickets for September tournament in Częstochowa. The final always gives unbelievable emotions so it is really worth to come at SGP Arena and support your favorites! The tickets are available on ebilet.pl and EMPIK stores.
