Before the last round of Speedway European Championships Martin Vaculik loses five points to the leader of the series Emil Sajfutdinow. Similar situation took place last season when Slovak managed to undo loss to Nicki Pedersen at the very last moment and won the title of European Champion. Will Vacul repeat such feat in Częstochowa?
For Martin this season is a kind of déjà vu from last season. Not many people gave him a chance then to win SEC. Everybody said that the favorite was Nicki Pedersen who had five point advantage, all main rivals were injured and Dane was on his home track in Poland then. However Vaculik rode really fantastic and as the first rider in the history won all the heats. Slovak at the very last moment won the gold medal of Individual European Championship but of course he deserved it.
Now the situation is similar again and the representative of the club from Tarnów surely would like to do the impossible once again. But has Vacul any chance taking into consideration such disposition of Emil? Still he remembers the inaugural tournament in Gustrow where he didn’t win any heat and the worse place. In the other rounds he was in the finals and thanks to good scores he is third in general classification.
This season Vaculik rides really well and he has the best scores in Polish ENEA Ekstraliga. However Slovak has to remember that his most dangerous rivals started in Włókniarz Częstochowa in the past and as a result know the track much better. It can be clearly said that Vaculik won’t give up easily and he will be fighting for another medal for him and Slovakia and if he is lucky he can surprise the whole Europe.
